Why trial with the EBDC?

Eastbourne Borough FC is the leading non-league football club in Sussex. In September 2011 we embarked on an exciting new venture in moving towards full-time football by opening our own Football Development Centre (EBDC) for elite players in Eastbourne and the surrounding area. One of the many things that sets EBDC apart is the fact that we provide top quality coaching and development to local players and provide a direct pathway into the Eastbourne Borough first team. Borough manager Tommy Widdrington is fully behind the initiative and will become involved in forging even stronger links between the centre, our Ryman 18's squad, the Eastbourne Borough Accademy and the first team.

Last season the Development Centre trialled over 70 players from across Sussex. Over 40 players from the ages of 11 to 16 were accepted for the 2012/32 season. During the course of last season the development squads played Crawley and Wimbledon FC centres of excellence and Charlton’s and Chelsea's elite teams.

Have You Got what It Takes?

The Eastbourne Borough Development Centre has been set up to promote, enhance and develop the skills of local young footballers.

Acknowledging that there is a gap in football development locally we are offering a pathway via high quality coaching to the highest levels of non-league football. The centre is non profit making and focuses on player development.

As the Eastbourne Borough Development Centre enters the final half of its inaugral season we are looking to expand over the coming months and are already looking to trial new players.

Who can apply?

The Eastbourne Borough Development Centre offer top level training to player from 11-16.

We offer places on a trial basis only which means those who succeed in applying will not be held back by large numbers of lower ability players who can continue to play football within their chosen clubs at a level more suited to their ability.

We encourage applications from players all over the south east who are considered to be of a high to excellent calibre.

How to apply

If you would like to register your interest in trialling for the Eastbourne Borough Development Centre please complete our online form and we will contact you with further details.

EBDC Visit Wimbledon AFC Centre of Excellence

Eastbourne Borough Development Centre took a representative squad on Saturday last to face AFC Wimbledon Centre of Excellence. The young Sports, in only their 2nd game as a squad represented themselves, the Development Centre and their coaches, and Eastbourne Borough with great credit, but returned to Sussex with a 4-1 defeat.

Everyone connected to the day enjoyed the experience and importantly the players and coaches learned much about what it takes to perform at Centre Of Excellence level, as well as the excellent hospitality and organisation of the hosts. The knowledge will be used to inform coaching and organisation and it is hoped that the players continue to show the enthusiasm of the day whilst continuing to develop as players and a team.
